The Habitation in Port Royal, Nova Scotia
The Habitation is located at Port Royal, Nova Scotia.
It is a reconstruction of the original Port Royal Habitation, a colony and fur trading post built in 1605,
by Samual de Champlain and Sieur de Monts. The reconstructed was based on the
sketch provided by Champlain in his published journals. The Canadian government
declared the Habitation a National Historic Site in 1923 and reconstructed it in
1939.
